Old Dominion University and AMERICAN SYSTEMS' Joint International Weapons and Concepts (JIWC) Directorate WINS $493 thousand dollar award

DUMFRIES, Va., 2 January 2006 - In partnership with the Old Dominion University's Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center, located in Suffolk, Virginia, AMERICAN SYSTEMS , one of the largest locally-based federal contractors in the Washington, D.C. area, has been awarded a $493 thousand dollar contract to support the enhancement of the existing Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Education & Training Capability (JNETC) located at the US Army base Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Old Dominion University, as the prime contractor, has formed Team ODU with AMERICAN SYSTEMS providing subject matter expertise in non-lethal weapons & capabilities (NLW/C) and technical course development. AMERICAN SYSTEMS' Joint /International Weapons & Concepts Directorate (JIWC) will lead AMERICAN SYSTEMS' endeavors and will be supported by AMERICAN SYSTEMS Orlando, which specializes in education and training services.

The Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate, the task sponsor, collaborates with the JNETC, which serves as the Marine Corps Center of Excellence for training non-lethal technologies. The objective of this effort is to enhance the existing JNETC capability to improve the quality, scalability, and scope of the resident and mobile training course.

Butch Foley, Vice President JIWC, expressed these thoughts on the win, "We've been in the business of non-lethal weapons supporting the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate since its inception in 1997. I am exceptionally pleased the government continues to express confidence in our work, and make available this opportunity to collaborate with ODU; I can ask for no better partner when it comes to ODU. they are real champions".
